Idioms

This is an Idiom.

An Idiom is an Figurative phrase .For example an Idiom that i and my partner have made which is “Kill to birds with one stone” Means Achieving two things at once. Not atucally kiling two birds at once that lireatl. Lirteal and  Figurative are very diffrent from eachother. Lilertal is when you atucally mean what you said. But Figurative when you say something but it has a diffrent meaning.

I enjoyed this task because learning about the diffrence between an Litreal and Figurative.

Volcano Poem

LI: To write a multi verse cinquain poem that describes the journey of a sleeping maunga that erupts

We have been learning and wirting cinquain poems. . A cinquain poem has 5 Row. Each line has a number of words. Row 1 is a noun which is a name and some thing you are able to touch . Row 2 has 2 adjectives that describe the noun. Row 3 has 3 verbs that are doing words. Row 4 is a noun phrase which is a group of words but is not a sentence and that go together to describe the noun. Row 5 is a synonym which is a word with a similar meaning to the noun. 

Pourquoi Story: Volcano

Back, far back, in the mists of time when the world was very young there was Maungarei, the fiery mountain. She was angry and exploded in fury when she had been woken from her slumber. As her rage took over her emotions she started shooting debris out of her. Her actions made plants and the land to be engulfed with lava. The people took cover and others were being evacuated from their houses. Her actions made plants and the land around be engulfed with lava . 

While she didn’t notice she saw the other mountains where having a conversation about leaving and getting away form mangueri 

“Guys I think we should leave her shes taking this way to far now” One mountain mentioned “Are you sure? You know how she can’t get scared when shes all alone” Another a mountain responded

“Were Ceartin. She is taking it way too far. She’s probably gonna hurt us too. It’s not worth it. ” One of the other Mountains  replied.

Maungeri was the middle child of her family and she didn’t like her siblings and parents ignoring her. But later on she saw how the other mountains were leaving her and the situation.

“Hello? Where are all going” Spoke Maungeri in a confused manner.

“We are sorry maungeri but you are too frightening when you get angry” Responded some of the maunga.

“ Wait guys please dont leave me here alone!, I will be better i promise!. Demanded Mangueri

 seeing them leave she fell into a lonely and sad state. She realized that she took it too seriously and didn’t mean for everyone to run away from her. She started to feel a little scared with no one being around her. It felt like she was too afraid to be alone by herself. She lost all hope until she saw a mountain arropching her. To her surprise it was Mt Ruapehu.

“Why so sad?” Said Mt Ruapehu.

“I was very upset and angry being woken from my sleep that my friends left me due to my tantrum” Mangueri replied in guilt.

Mt Ruapehu replies back “Maybe you should apolgize to you dear freinds and the people who lived here”

Mangueri Responds “Alright that’s not a bad idea.

Mangueri locates the villagers and the other mountains. She looks at the villagers and her fellow mountains and speaks.

“I apologize my out burst back there. I hope you will accept my apology?” She said

“We forgive you mangueri and its ok. And its nice to see you have calm down. 

After that Mangueri and the other maunga rentuied as friends again and forgave her the end.

 

Samuel Marsden Podcast

 

This task was used with adobe express podcast. we used a Google docs and made a srpict for us to use while recording in the audio. The sripct had two diffrent chacters like Samuel Mardesn and the host. In the sripct we created question and answer them to reverned marsden.

I enjoyed this task because we used our knowledge that we have learned about samuel Marsden and have turned it into a podcast.

Speech Writing.

LI: to explore the language features of a persuasive text.

This term we have been learning about persuasive writing to help us get ready for the school speech competition later in this term. And we have been learning about perusasive language.  Persuasive writing is used when you want someone to think like you or maybe to agree with you. Everyone made a group of 3 and was told to pick a topic. My group David Me and Aarush decied to pick the topic about why phones should be allowed in the classroom? 

I found this so intresting because i never knew what preusasive languge and speech where.

 

Two words 2 minutes

This week we have been playing a new game its called 2 words and 2 minutes.

 We did the 2 words and 2 minutes challgage. The 2 words and 2 mintues is a game which you have to make a small short story with the 2 words your given in 2 mintues. For Example if you where given Newzealand and Jacket all you had to do was just make a small story inculding the 2 words your given. The rules where Dont stress just guess. The second one was write as fast as you can. The 2 words we did was Athletes/Olympics so with these words you got to make a story about the acient olympic games. When the 2 mintue timer was up you had to share your text with person next to you. I found this pretty fun because i got to write better and learn bigger and longer words.

Rewrote vocacbulary

LI: To use a wider variety of vocabulary

For this task we were challenged by our teacher to rewrite sentences without using specific letters. We rewrote sentences by taking out the letters L, A,  E, and K. We used word hippo to find different vocabulary of words to change the sentences that we were given. Each time we finished we found another pair and shared our sentence or lullabies. The more we kept going the more it got harder. I think this activity was definitely impossible because most of the words had either have L A or K but most of them mostly had E.

Information Report: The Bengal Swamp Tiger

LI: To write an information report that informs the reader about the Swamp Tigers

We used a smart seachering skills to find interesting facts about the rare swamp tigers. once we wrote down notes about these tigers where made them into a information report.

Swamp Tigers.  

Swamp tigers also known as Bengal and sundarbans tigers are very rare. People call this the Panthera Tigris Tigris as its scientific name. They mostly are found in the Asian continent. Did you ever know that a grown up male Swamp Tiger can approximately size up to 260 pounds?  

Appearance. The swamp tigers have orange with black stripes and white spots. They also have sharp claws to hunt and powerful chomping  jaws. Its body is very muscular making it very powerful and strong. Its weight is 200 to 260. Its body is very good at camouflaging into the mangrove trees.   

Diet.   The swamp tigers eat mostly meat so there are carnivores. They usually eat Turtles Fishing cats birds Crabs Fish Humans Wild boars Frogs Rats Monkey Fisherman’s  Humans Water monitors and deers. Their most prey were fishermen because of how many humans used to come to hunt them down. As strange as it may seem swamp tigers don’t just eat meat they also eat seafood.   

Habitat. These beasts are located in Bengal and its continent is asia. Their habitat is small because of deforestation. The bengal is a mangrove kind of forest. It is a hot, muddy place. They protect and roam their habitat from being attacked. They hide among the trees of the mangrove forest. It’s covered by salt water.

 Behavior. They act strong and defensive against the humans. The way they kill their prey is by sneaking up to them from hiding amongst the trees. There they 

have good swimming and hunting. They mostly hunt their weakest prey. They are good at camouflaging into the trees. There are hunters. Did you know that there are only about 100 swamp tigers left in the world.? Are you aware that the swamp tigers are good at killing in the water?

Now in 2024 the swamp tigers are endangered. Because deforestation and places are  expanding. We should save them by respecting their homes and cleaning the environment. 

 

Swamp Tigers


LI: To create a multi modal DLO that tells others about Swamp Tigers.

Our challenge was to make a multi modo DLO explaning what the Swamp Tigers are.

We first watched a video we took wrote down lots of notes on the white board. then we paired up into groups of 4 or 3.

We made a good slides explaining there: Apperance diet Habitat Behavouir and Intresting facts. While doing this you also made a voice recording on each slide of the presentation. Then we reasearched what the swamp tiger eats act where it lives and interesting facts about them.

Then lastly we went to another pair and made a group of 4 and each present our Google slides.

I enjoyed making this because I knew now what swamp tigers are.

Polar Bear Poem

LI:

For this task we needed to make a peom.

First we wacthed a video about a man in a glass cage in the middle of the artic. Then the Polar bear came and started to strach and scrap the glass of the cage. then you needed to be in a group and make a peom about the video of the polar. Then you make a peom on a drawing. After you make a DLO about the polar bear.

I enjoyed this task because We got to make our own poem about the polar bear.
